Stewardship and Building Maintenance

Maintenance Committee
Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton policies require us to keep our facilities safe, functional, and well maintained. Our maintenance review is on-going, and we liaise with the Pastor, Business Coordinator, and maintenance staff to ensure on-going maintenance is carried out. Consistent with our long-term goals we provide an annual review of our long-term capital requirements along with cost estimates to the Parish Finance Council. Interested parishioners are invited to provide a brief summary of their interest and experience to be considered for appointment by the Pastor to this ministry.
Commitment Level: This committee meets about 2 to 3 times a year. Depending on circumstances meetings may be called more frequently. The Maintenance Chair (or delegate) reports to the Parish Finance Council at their regular meetings (3 to 5 times a year).

Parish Finance Council

The Finance Council is an advisory group to the Pastor on matters relating to the finances of the parish. Interested parishioners are invited to provide a brief summary of their interest and experience to be considered for appointment by the Pastor to this ministry. The primary responsibility of the PFC is to help in the preparation on the parish’s annual budget and to review the interim financial statements of the parish.

We work closely with the Business Coordinator in reviewing the monthly financial statements and providing analysis and questions directed to maintaining and sustaining parish operations consistent with our parish mission and goals. We also recommend to the pastor the financial and related information that should be reported to the parishioners.

We ensure the policies and guidelines of the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton are followed such as approvals on spending limits, capital expenditures and special projects.

Commitment Level: Our current meeting schedule consists of 3 to 5 meetings a year for approximately 2 hours. Special meetings may be called at the discretion of the Pastor.

Stewardship Committee

The goal of this newly formed committee is to help the pastor and parish team by enhancing our collective efforts in achieving a “Stewardship Spiritually”. Using the concepts of Time, Talent, and Treasure we will promote our mission and parish activities as committed disciples of Jesus. The group will have an initial meeting and in consultation with the Parish team we will determine a strategic plan for the promotion of our parish’s Stewardship mission. Interested parishioners are invited to provide a brief summary of their interest and experience to be considered for appointment by the Pastor to this ministry.
Commitment Level: Meetings have not been scheduled and will be set by the pastor once the committee is structured.

Personnel Committee

This committee provides advice and oversight to the pastor and parish team on the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton (CAE) Human Resources policies as they relate to our parish staff. Interested parishioners are invited to provide a brief summary of their interest and experience to be considered for appointment by the Pastor to this ministry. Included in this oversight is ensuring we have: job descriptions for all staff; a regular performance review process; annual wage reviews consistent with CAE guidelines. The Personnel Committee assists in the interview process when hiring non-pastoral staff.

Commitment Level: Meetings have not been scheduled and will be set by the pastor once the committee is structured.
This committee currently reports through the Parish Finance Council (3 to 5 times a year).

Counting Ministry

Counting itself involves marking the total funds contained in each donation envelope, tallying the total funds received in cash and cheques, and preparing the weekly bank deposit. Counting offers a conversational, friendly, and cerebral experience and is an important contribution to sustaining our Mission and the life of our Parish.
Commitment Level: Working in teams of four, each team holds responsibility for counting one to two months each year. Each team of four people counts for four or five consecutive Sundays usually starting after the 10am Mass and running to approximately 1:15 pm. This is about 2 hours a week during one, sometimes two months of the year.
Training: On-the-job-training is offered for the first week of each month. An experienced counter and office support is always available to the team.

Dust Angels

Working with a team to clean the church. Duties include cleaning and dusting areas as needed (altar furniture, library, pews, etc.); cleaning the small kitchen and area; cleaning all marble floors; cleaning windows and washrooms; cleaning and replacing candles in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.
Commitment Level: Tuesday mornings. Start time is between 7 and 7:30 am and ends at 9:00 or shortly after depending on the number of workers. After cleaning, Dust Angels pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and a decade of the Rosary for the people of Ukraine together and socialize with coffee and goodies.
Training: No training is required, only a willingness to work and enjoy some social time afterwards.

Floral Design Ministry

Arrange flowers to beautify and enrich worship spaces.
Commitment Level: Four or five times a year usually on a Friday or Saturday morning, working with a partner.
